The Biology Department at Alma College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology, with specialization in botany. We seek an individual with demonstrated skills in, and a commitment to, undergraduate teaching and research. Duties will begin in August, 2014.
The ideal candidate will 1) have interpersonal skills that facilitate dynamic learning experiences for undergraduates and 2) maintain a thriving plant biology research program that involves undergraduates in a liberal arts college environment. Teaching responsibilities will include classroom and laboratory work in introductory botany, plant physiology, and an upper level course in the area of specialty. Pedagogical use of the Alma College Ecological Station is expected, and opportunities exist for developing traveling spring term courses. The applicant must have the ability to speak to a broad audience regarding their interests in biology and botany. Areas of specialty may include plant biodiversity, conservation biology, forest management, or natural resources management.
A Ph.D. is required for this appointment. Review of applications will begin 25 October, 2013.
