Missouri Western State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology position to begin in fall 2014. Expertise in botany is required.  Expertise in systematics, plant evolution, plant conservation or development and familiarity with the flora of Missouri are preferred. Opportunities to teach and develop courses in the candidate’s area of expertise will be available. Primary teaching responsibilities will be plant systematics and organismal biology for majors and general biology for non-majors. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong commitments to teaching, mentoring undergraduate student research, and sustained scholarly activity. Maintenance and curation of the Leo Galloway Herbarium collection is expected, as is participation in Department, University, and community support activities. An earned doctorate is required by the start of employment.
