The herbarium of the US National Arboretum in in Washington, D.C. is offering a summer internship in herbarium technique, located at the US National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. Our herbarium (NA) is a worldwide collection of ca 800.000 specimens. It is the main herbarium of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. It is a worldwide collection, especially rich in economically important plants and their wild relatives, and voucher specimens for research, breeding, and plant introduction programs of the past 110 years.
The intern's activities will include making herbarium vouchers from living plant material, including the National Arboretum's living collections, and carrying out various tasks necessary for maintenance and development of the herbarium. Activities may be adjusted to reflect particular interests of the intern.
