Professional societies such as the American Society of Plant Taxonomists depend on dedicated members willing to give of themselves to promote the goals of the society. ASPT has been fortunate over its long and distinguished history in having had many such individuals. In recognition of the rare individual who gives truly exceptional service, the ASPT has established the Distinguished Service Award. This award is only presented when the occasion warrants.
