The new Flora of the Pacific Northwest has just been released by the University of Washington Press. This Flora is a fully revised and updated version of the 1973 edition by C. L. Hitchcock and Art Cronquist, with over 1000 new taxa and updated taxonomy and nomenclature. Edited by D. Giblin, B. Legler, P. Zika, and R. Olmstead, the 2nd Edition continues the format of including illustrations of diagnostic traits accompanying the keys for all species. The original Flora was based on the 5-volume “Vascular Plants of the Pacific Northwest” published between 1955 and 1969, which means that this is the first updated Flora for most taxa in the region in over 50 years.
