ASPT is seeking members who want to play critical leadership roles in the society through the positions of Treasurer and Program Director. Below you will find descriptions of each position and how to self nominate.
ASPT Treasurer
The American Society of Plant Taxonomists is seeking applicants for the position of Treasurer to begin in September, 2022.
The Treasurer, a member of the ASPT Council, works closely with the Business Office (BO) Manager to carry out a variety of duties that are critical to the Society, including:
Prepare the annual budget, in consultation with the President
Manage fiscal policy and long-term fiscal planning
Manage the review of the financial records by a certified public accountant in even-numbered years.
Review payments and account transfers made by the Business Office
Review financial records maintained by the Business Office and present summaries of finances to Council on a quarterly basis and membership on an annual basis.
Serve on the Finance Committee

ASPT Program Director
The American Society of Plant Taxonomists is seeking applicants for the position of Program Director to begin in September, 2022.
The Program Director, a member of the ASPT Council is responsible for ensuring that the Society has a first-rate Annual Meeting program each year. To do this involves a variety of duties throughout the year, including:
Attend the Botany Conference Planning Committee meeting at the end of each conference, and participate in the subsequent site visit for the upcoming year (expenses paid by ASPT) in October of each year; participate in virtual conference planning meetings as scheduled during the year.
Oversee the planning and announcement of key functions for the conference to the ASPT membership:
Field trips, social gatherings, workshops
Call for papers and symposia, acceptance of titles and abstracts for presentations
Scheduling of presentations, meetings, and social functions
Schedule the systematics-related contributed talk and poster sessions from abstracts for the annual program using the conference software, and work with the BSA Program Director and program directors of other sections and participating societies to eliminate conflicts and heavy topic overlap among sessions.
Participate in the conference and be on call to provide logistical assistance with systematics-related sessions
