Forestry Researcher

Based at the American Samoa Community College Division of Agriculture, Community and Natural Resources on Tutuila Island, American Samoa, the Forestry Researcher leads a research program to improve understanding and management of American Samoa's forest resources. The program is based on local needs and US Forest Service requirements. In addition, the Forestry Researcher provides technical support to the Forestry Extension Program—especially in the area of invasive plants--and helps conduct extension and outreach programs. Requirements: MA/MS in forestry, botany or related field with two years of research and/or extension experience; proficiency in GIS. Preferred: Ph.D. in forestry, botany or related field with two years professional experience. An understanding of the Samoan culture and good Samoan language skills highly desirable.
