Postdoctoral Scholar in Tropical Plant Diversity

We have a renewable postdoctoral position tropical plant diversity.
Florida International University's International Center for Tropical Botany (ICTB) at The Kampong collaborates with the National Tropical Botanical Gardens (NTBG) to advance research and education in tropical plant biology (Learn more about ICTB). ICTB's state-of-the-art headquarters, located on Biscayne Bay in Coconut Grove, offers exceptional facilities for studying tropical plant sciences.
Responsibilities: The post-doctoral scholar will contribute to the new ICTB herbarium and associated living collections and will also develop their own research program. Applicants should propose ideas for research projects integrating field collections, herbarium samples, and other datasets (e.g., molecular analyses, functional traits, long-term monitoring data).
Required Qualifications (By start date in 2025):
Ph.D in tropical botany, plant systematics, plant ecology, or a related field.
Record of publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Evidence of success in development of independent research initiatives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of two or more of English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
Experience with herbarium research and management.
Enthusiasm for field work in remote tropical sites.
Experience managing students and/or research staff.

Salary $55-65k This position provides FIU’s excellent benefits package. The initial appointment will be for 100% time for two years with the indeterminate possibility of extension based on performance
