Postdoctoral Associate - Phylogenomics
Assistant /associate professor in Plant conservation
Qatar University in Doha is seeking a highly motivated and skilled plant taxonomist and conservation ecologist to join our research group in studying and protecting desert plant species. The successful candidate will have a strong background in plant taxonomy and systematics, as well as a solid understanding of conservation ecology principles.
Responsibilities:
Conduct taxonomic studies of desert plant species, including species delimitation and description, identification keys, and phylogenetic analyses
Conduct field surveys to identify and document the distribution and abundance of desert plant species
Develop and implement conservation strategies for threatened and endangered desert plant species
Collaborate with other scientists and stakeholders to design and implement research projects related to desert plant ecology and conservation
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals and present research findings at scientific conferences and workshops
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in plant taxonomy, systematics, or a related field
Strong taxonomic skills and experience working with desert plant species
Demonstrated expertise in conservation ecology and a track record of developing and implementing conservation strategies for threatened and endangered species
Experience conducting field surveys in remote, arid environments
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as evidenced by a strong publication record and the ability to present research findings to diverse audiences.
