The Integrated Pest Control Branch at the CA Department of Food & Agriculture is recruiting to fill a Senior Environmental Scientist (Specialist) position located in Sacramento County to serve as botanical information resource and weed program coordinator.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Coordinates the Weed Control Grant program for the Department.
Evaluates the pest risk of potential weeds.
Serves as a scientific information resource for the CDFA and other stakeholders by providing scientific botanical information.
Performs outreach to various land management and pest management groups.
Develops, assists and advises on pest management for non-native and invasive agricultural plant species that occur in California.
Advises on implementation of environmental standards and various environmental health-related regulations.
Provides scientific feedback on exotic weed species globally and the risk to California agriculture and the environment.
Executes data analysis from collected data from field and applied research studies and prepares scientific reports and/or presentations.
Under the general direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), the incumbent performs a broad range of scientific and professional office and field duties involving the research, environmental analysis, outreach, and logistics for the Integrated Control Branch.
