The American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT) has selected Chris Martine, the David Burpee Chair in Plant Genetics & Research and the Director of the Manning Herbarium at Bucknell University, as its 2018 Peter Raven Award recipient.
2018 ASPT Engagement and Excellence in Plant Systematics Education Award
Oregon State University’s Dr. Melanie Link-Pérez has been selected as the recipient of this year’s Engagement and Excellence in Plant Systematics Education Award (EEPSEA) from the America Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT). The EEPSEA award was established in 2013 in order to recognize educators who have implemented and developed innovative methods for engaging students in the study of plant systematics in the classroom, laboratory or during outreach activities.
2018 ASPT Undergraduate Research Prize
The American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT) has selected Daniel Hayes, a recent graduate of Bucknell University, as its 2018 Undergraduate Research Prize (URP) recipient. The prize is considered the society’s most prestigious recognition of undergraduate achievement.
Student Travel Grants 2018
The ASPT Membership Committee is happy to announce that the popular student travel grant lottery from previous years will continue this year. Botanical Advocacy Leadership Award 2018
The Botanical Society of America (BSA) and the American Society of Plant Taxonomists (ASPT) are pleased to invite applications for the annual Botanical Advocacy Leadership Award. This award organized by the Environmental and Public Policy Committees of BSA and ASPT aims to support local efforts that contribute to shaping public policy on issues relevant to plant sciences.
2018 ASPT CVD Travel Award
The ASPT Environmental and Public Policy Committee (EPPC) invites applications for the first annual ASPT CVD Travel Grant. This award provides up to $750 to be reimbursed for expenses such as transportation, room, and board for one early-career botanist to attend the Congressional Visits Day (CVD) in Washington, D.C., held 17–18 April 2018.

Joint BSA/ASPT award funds sustainability workshop in the Dominican Republic
The 2017 Botany Advocacy Leadership Award provided funds for awardee Jackeline Salazar to hold a sustainability workshop for women on August 31st, 2017, in Oviedo, Perdenales, Dominican Republic. The workshop was entitled "Plant Conservation and Sustainable Management by women in the Jaragua-Bahoruco-Enriquillo Biosphere Reserve, Dominican Republic: Community Workshop and Local Capacity” and was a great success!
